Give Yourself Away
As A LAMP Volunteer
VSU students Ciara McCray and Jasmine DaSilva show solidarity with the less fortunate at LAMP's annual "Homeless For A Night"
WHY BE A LAMP VOLUNTEER?
1. ADVANCE YOUR SKILLS
If you’re considering a new career, volunteering can help you get experience in your area of interest and meet people in the field. Even if you’re not planning on changing careers, volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice important skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organization. You might feel more comfortable stretching your wings at work once you’ve honed these skills in a volunteer position first.
2. GET SPIRITUAL BENEFIT
Volunteering helps counteract the effect of stress, anger and anxiety. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others helps develop a solid support system. Volunteering increases self confidence, provides a sense of purpose and makes you happy!
3. MAKE NEW FRIENDS
Being a LAMP Volunteer connects you to others. It allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Even the smallest of tasks can make a big difference in the lives of others.
